Wahine Experience: Sayulita, Mexico
Experience this custom 6-day trip to Sayulita, Mexico, Wahine instructors have curated a surf retreat for teenage girls that will allow them time to dig deep and get out of their comfort zones to be in community with one another and consider their place in the world, their relationships, their self esteem and overall wellness. They will have time to bask in the sun, swim in the pool, go on hikes as well as improve their surf skills.
Surf + Relaxation + Adventure + Community
Cost: $2500 for their own bed, $2200 for shared bed king/queeen bed, $1800 couch(2 spots).
All rooms are air conditioned. House has a pool.:)
Airfare is NOT included. We will coordinate flights so chaperones can fly to and from Puerto Vallarta.
Why Sayulita? Sayulita is called Pueblo Magica! It is easily accessible from most major US cities with no jet lag! But it feels far-away and remote. It's vibrant streets and celebratory vibe make it a great escape! Dionne's family is from Nayarit and she has been traveling to this area for 15 years for solo, family and group trips. She loves sharing the heart of Mexico with travelers of all ages.

How many people are coming? Our vision is to provide a community experience, so we are limiting this trip to 10 teens.
What if teens have never surfed? We got you. Our local expert Risa never fails to help first-time surfers have an amazing experience! *This is not just a surf trip. The surf lesson is a part of the experience to get teens out of your comfort zone. It's all fun, no danger!! If teens are a surfer and they want to surf till they drop you they swap out the surf lessons for surf board rental for the week and surf when you want.
What will the weather be like? Tropical! All bedrooms will have A/C. Nights and mornings can be chilly sometimes, so a light jacket is recommended.
What will a typical day be like?Each day will be determined by the ocean and wave forecast as well as what we're learning about the group needs. A typical day will look like something like this:
What is required to hold my space?A $500 non-refundable deposit is required to hold your spot. The remainder of all payments will be due 6 weeks before arrival. All payments are non-refundable and considered a tax-deductible donation to the Wahine Project if you are not able to attend.
How do I sign up? Fill out the contact form so we can connect and I can answer questions, then a registration link will be forwarded to you.
Are there scholarships available? There are no scholarships available but we can work with teens to do fundraising for the trip. Please let us know right away so we can start raising money! We want to make this happen for anyone who wants to go!!
If you do not have a passport you need to do that paperwork ASAP! It usually takes at least 2 months to get it. Let us know if you need help with getting one.

- Fully chaperoned and group work led by Dionne and Wahine Staff
- Transportation to and from airport.
- One surf lessons with World Class Surfer and Instructor Risa Mara. She is a long time partner with The Wahine Project. Includes all the gear needed.
- One of our days will be spent aboard the Ally Cat, a 56- foot Luxury Catamaran. The boat is outfitted with top of the line snorkeling equipment, paddle boards, ocean kayaks, fishing poles, a fun dive platform, and ALL the toys you will need for a fun-filled day. Breakfast and Lunch provided.
- Morning mindfulness, breathing and daily grounding sessions.

- 9:00-10 am Wake-up, light breakfast
- 10:00 Mindfulness/Breathing/Intention for the day
- 11:00-1:00 Surf Sessions
- 1:00-2:30 Lunch
- 2:00-5:00 Nap, pool, shopping, beach time, hikes.
- 6:30-8:00 Dinner
