What you need to know for weekly camps!
Due to the high volume of registrants it is difficult for us to accommodate on the beach purchases, we ask that you purchase your rash guard prior to camp. Cost is $30 and can be purchased at Alma Del Mar/Wahine HQ, 269 Bonifacio, Monterey. Hours Wed-Sunday 11-4, Tuesdays 4-7pm. We ask that drop offs do not happen earlier than 10 min before camp begins. Our staff is working hard to set everything up for you kiddos and we cannot invite them in until 10 min prior to the beginning of each session. Kids should dress in WARM layers!! It is cold at the beach often and it is so uncomfortable for the kiddos if they are cold and being cold isn't good for the nerves either. Bathing suits, swim trunks, swim jammers, snug fitting shorts should be worn under warm layers. Whatever they are going to wear under their wetuits. Kids are welcome to wear wetsuit to the beach but we will not get into the water for at least 1 hour after camp begins and wearing a wetsuit can sometimes be uncomfortable out of the water. Sometimes kids arrive half suited with a sweatshirt on instead of wearing the suit all the way on. If kiddos do not have a wetsuit we can provide one and that info has been asked in registration. Participants MUST WEAR a 4MM wetsuit!!! Please do not send your child in a wetsuit that is 3 or 2mm. Our ocean is just too cold for a wetsuit this thin. Many times our youngest kiddos show up in a 2 mm because they are small and smaller wetsuits often come in thinner suits. They just get so cold and they are sad. If you want to purchase a 4mm wetsuit from us we can order one for you if you are unable to find one.
Bring a towel, water and a snack. We can provide sunscreen and water refills if needed.
Am Session girls meet at 1 Surf Way. Am Boys meet at 1 Beach Way. The littles, 4-6 year olds meet right in the middle of Tide Way!
All Afternoon sessions meet at 1 Surf Way.
If participants borrow a wetsuit they will be taking it home each day. We will provide everyone a bag to take their wetsuits home each day. Wetsuits need to be rinsed each day by you. Give them a rinse under a hose and hang them outside in a safe place or inside in the shower. The shower is a great place to hang and then you don't have to worry about the fog in the morning that won't allow it to dry. Bring the wetsuit back each day along with the rashguard you purchased prior to camp!
Wahine sweatshirts, t-shirts and hats can also be purchased before camp at our store.
