Frequently Asked Questions
Whose land do you do programming on?
We are so glad you asked! We are the beneficiaries for the land use from the Ohlone and Esselen People.
How do I sign up?
You can register online through our Programs and Camps Link above.
Can we observe a session before we decide to sign up?
Yes, we have session on the first 3 Saturdays Saturdays from 10-2 at Wharf 2 in Monterey. Drop in and introduce yourself or just watch from afar!!:)
Can you make accommodations for kiddos who are living with disabilities to participate? YES! Our team has had extensive training to work with and make accessible access to our programs for anyone who is living with a physical disability. Please do not hesitate to ask us how we can accommodate the needs of your family. We will do whatever it takes to be supportive without any additional costs.
Does my child need a wetsuit or surfboard to participate?
No. We provide all equipment. We have wetsuits for all ages and sizes. It is great if participants have their own wetsuits but please no wetsuits that are less than 4mm and no wetsuits that are not full length in legs or arms. The ocean is cold and we do not want participants to have wetsuits that are too thin or not full length.
Does my child know how to swim to participate?
No. No swimming is necessary to have fun in the sea! If the student cannot swim, the instructor will give 1:1 attention and they do not go into water deeper than the instructor ́s waist. We do recommend swimming lessons to advance skills further on.
Can I hang out at the beach during the surf clinics?
We ask that parents do not linger in close proximity to programs on the beach unless you would like to take a few pictures or video for the memory books. We want students to focus on forming tight bonds with instructors and with each other. There is plenty of viewing room at the beach without having to be too close.
Can we sign in on drop-in basis or come just once?
We have classes that are on a drop in basis. If you do not find the date online that you wish to attend please contact us and we can make arrangements for the class date that works best.
Do you offer scholarships?
We have a limited number of scholarships that we can offer this year. Please contact us on how to receive a full or half scholarship. We can work out any financial arrangement. We never want cost to get in the way of participating!
Do offer full refunds for cancellations?
No, but we will give you a credit for any future programming of your choice.
Can I make changes to registrations?
We recommend that you confirm all of your commitments before registering. There will be a $50 fee for us to make changes after you have enrolled.
Are you a non profit?
Yes, we are a 501(c)3 non profit organization. Our Tax ID number is 45-1154140.
