FAQ

How do I sign up?
Register here!

Does my child need a wetsuit or surfboard to participate?
No. We provide all equipment. Some participants bring their own equipment. If you're surfing in the cooler months, we highly advise you buy a pair of booties, if at all possible. We stock booties but finding the perfect size is sometimes a challenge.

Can we observe a session before we decide to sign up?

Yes, absolutely! The first saturday of every month between 9a-12p during the Fall or 10a-1p during the Winter. Contact us and let us know you are coming at info@thewahineproject.org.

Does my child know how to swim to participate?
No. No swimming is necessary to have fun in the sea! If the student cannot swim, the instructor will give 1:1 attention and they do not go into water deeper than the instructor´s waist. We do recommend swimming lessons to advance skills further.

Can I hang out at the beach during the surf clinics?
We ask that parents do not linger on the beach unless you would like to take a few pictures or video for the memory books. We want students to focus on forming tight bonds with instructors and with each other.

Can we sign in on drop-in basis or come just once?
No. Our program is based on girls building a relationship with the ocean, with one another and with their instructors. This happens over a course of time.
